Accounts that only trade futures and futures options got some good news this week: the CBOE Futures Exchange is going to list options on their volatility (VX) futures. You might say, “Well, aren’t the $VIX options merely options on those futures?” Yes, they are. But they are not a CFTC-regulated product; they are a SEC-regulated product. These new VX futures options will be a CFTC-regulated product, which means that CTA (Commodity Trading Advisor) accounts that only trade futures and futures options can utilize them. Learn more here.
