On April 15, 2016, the CBOE began disseminating VIX prices in the overnight session. Now, the VIX index will be open during extended trading hours from 2:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Central time. From the CBOE press realese:
CHICAGO, April 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicago Board Options Exchange® (CBOE®) today announced that it plans to start overnight dissemination of the CBOE Volatility Index® (VIX® Index) on April 15. Values for the VIX Index are expected to be published every 15 seconds, beginning at 2:15 a.m. CT, during CBOE's extended trading hours session for VIX and S&P 500® Index (SPX) options, which run from 2:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. CT, Monday through Friday.
